Welcome Hiker Brewing Co
We’re excited to welcome Hiker Brewing Co. as the new hosts of our Bushcare and Beer program. Founded by local craft brewing veterans Phil and Daniel, Hiker has been part of Brisbane’s independent brewing scene since opening in Salisbury in 2023. Built on a passion for community, the outdoors, and bringing people together, Hiker Brewing Co is a natural fit for Bushcare & Beer.
So from Sunday June 21st, please join us for our first event with Hiker Brewing Co. Lynn and Mary Lou will meet volunteers at the Oxley Creek Common Red Shed from 2 pm for a weeding session, before retiring to Hiker Brewing Co around 4 pm for a complimentary beverage (beer and soft drinks are available).

We would also like to take this opportunity to once again thank Scott, Sarah, Adam and the rest of the Helios Brewing family for all of their support over the years.
OCCA partnered with Helios Brewing back in October 2021 to launch a Sunday afternoon Bushcare group at Oxley Creek Common. The aim was to create a welcoming space for people interested in trying Bushcare for the first time, as well as those who enjoy sharing a beer and good conversation. Since then, our group has grown into a wonderful community of people who not only care about the environment but also value the friendships and connections formed through volunteering together.
We were saddened to learn in April that Helios Brewing would be closing their doors in early May. The news was a heart-breaking announcement for those who have enjoyed their amazing beers and the welcoming community space that Scott, Sarah, Adam and their team have created.
While we are going to miss our afternoons at Helios Brewing, we are grateful for everything that have contributed to Bushcare and Beer and the wider community. Scott and the team are currently still brewing a select number of beers so we recommend dropping by to pick up some favourites during their take-away hours and keeping an eye on their social media and website for future announcements.
