OCCA proudly hosted its first Great Cane Toad Bust 2026 at Archerfield Wetlands, bringing together local families for an evening of hands-on conservation.
Equipped with head torches, gloves and buckets, participants enthusiastically gathered toads around Archerfield Wetlands while learning about cane toad biology, their introduction into Australia and the ongoing impacts on native species and ecosystems.
Together 41 people, over two hours, captured 504 adult cane toads – contributing to the nationwide total of 73,200 adult cane toads for the week long event.
The OCCA Great Cane Toad Bust 2026 was a fantastic example of how education, community involvement and practical action can come together to support healthier waterways and habitats within the Oxley Creek catchment.
