Despite the setbacks mother nature threw at us in the lead up to our launch event for World Wetlands Day, the bird walk and BBQ went ahead on Saturday 16th February. The event was a great success with attendees ‘flocking’ to explore the Archerfield Wetlands and discover the many varieties of birds residing just minutes from the Ipswich Motorway. A total of 52 birds were sighted with the help of local birdwatcher, Rae Clarke and a number of Birds Queensland members, whose expertise was greatly appreciated. Rae has included the list of birds sighted at the wetlands on the Eremea website, a birding atlas built from members’ birds lists. The list can be found here.
