One of the Lord Mayor’s election commitments is $100M to the transformation of Oxley Creek from the Brisbane River to Larapinta into a revitalised green corridor with new parkland, lakes for recreation and flood mitigation, a new environmental education centre, an events plaza, restaurants and cafes, a public aviary, sporting fields, bikeways and green trails.
OCCA is supportive of any activities and funding that will improve Oxley Creek and its riparian zone as a sustainable habitat corridor for our valuable native wildlife but is keen to ensure that any changes are done sensitively, in keeping with the environment and in consultation with the community.
