JUNE/JULY - ENVIRONMENT AND COMMUNITY GRANTS UPDATES

Introducing Shoop the Sugar Glider!

A wonderful Australia Post Landcare grant has allowed Shoop the Sugar Glider to come to life to spread our environmental message to the wider community.

OCCA will take Shoop to schools and community festivals to educate community about conservation and the need to look after our local wildlife – in particular, the plight of the sugar glider. Sure to be a great hit with both kids and adults, Shoop will make its debut at the 2008 Peaks to Points Festival. Watch out for it!

Urban Planning Changes Unacceptable
Urban Planning changes being put in place by the Premier may threaten our catchment. Two actions of the Premier have grave implications: first, fast-tracking of land releases at 17 sites in South East Queensland, including the so-called Oxley Wedge, riding roughshod over normal council development application procedures; second, revising the SEQ Regional Plan without consultation with stakeholders, including OCCA, threatening existing reserved greenspace in our catchment as well as elsewhere in SEQ.
